How can a Occupational

Therapist help you?

At PAIN the occupational therapists provide education on how to perform activities of daily living, and how to live well despite having pain.

Our occupational therapists consider the client and their needs from a broad perspective, considering their medical, social, psychological, and occupational aspects of life, and will help design a bespoke rehabilitation programme that meets their unique requirements.

Case management

Our occupational therapists (OTs) are rehabilitation specialists and have a clear understanding of all the non‑pharmacological treatment modalities that are available to help manage your pain effectively. Working with the OT can help identify your priorities and work out what will be the best fit for your unique circumstances.

Sensory profiles

Pain can make your nervous system over-respond to normal input from your senses. OTs are experts at helping you work out how to use your senses effectively to manage your pain and improve your productivity doing the tasks you would like to do, on your own, or with your loved ones.

Education

Education is one of the cornerstones of occupational therapy treatment, helping you understand how your nervous system interacts with your other body systems and the world around you. The goal is to get you to be the leader of your own team and know which treatments are going to work best for your situation. The OT will teach you how to do your activities safely and effectively.

Work specific intervention

Pain can affect your productivity and relationships at work. Our OTs can assist with an assessment and recommendations on how to manage your pain in the workplace. This can include an ergonomic or work‑station evaluation or more comprehensive assessment.
