Run/Walk For Life (RWFL) is no ordinary running and walking programme.
There is a reason that it is the only exercise programme of its type
endorsed by Discovery Vitality, Bonita’s, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
South Africa, as well as the South African Society of
Physiotherapists.
Unlike other running and walking clubs and groups, RWFL is not a one
size fits all programme. Members are prescribed
personal, individualised exercise programmes, specific to their current levels of health and
fitness. RWFL is an evidence based scientific exercise programme,
where members are prescribed the correct volume (distance) and intensity (heart
rate) of exercise, based on their
current profile and level of fitness – you will therefor never do too much, OR
too little. No new member will ever receive a generic
programme. Every member receives a programme specific to
them. In addition, RWFL is the only exercise programme which offers
its members free membership of an Association of Dieticians Of South Africa
approved nutrition programme. eatForLife is a fully interactive eating
plan, run by registered dieticians, which allows members to build their own
meal plans according to their specific tastes and preferences. By
combining both a scientific exercise plan with an ADSA endorsed nutrition
programme, members have access to an “all in one” wellness
programme.
A crucial aspect of the RWFL programme is the understanding that most
members are not competitive by nature, and just want to get in some exercise
while out having fun. The RWFL programme is for this very reason a
non-competitive and non-threatening programme, where fun and enjoyment are at
the core of the programme – it is often referred to as “Talk For
Life”. In addition to 3 weekly sessions, the programme includes regular long, slow walks, as well as group
nature walks on weekends, for those who are interested.
At RWFL our focus is on getting the totally unfit active in a totally non-threatening, non-competitive and fun manner. What's more, PAIN has negotiated discounted rates for our patients wanting to take advantage of the RWFL exercise program.
