In treating back and neck pain in the medium term, electrical blocks of the pain signal are required. The technique is near-identical to the chemical block where the medication is injected outside of the joint. The only difference is that an electrode is passed through the needle and a radiofrequency generator delivers a radiofrequency current through the electrode.
This is an electrical block of the pain signal and lasts for months/years.
